This years Annual General Meeting will take place on the 24th October at 7pm in The Dean Tavern. This is the community’s opportunity to come along and hear how the gala day is getting on and give us your views on how we can improve next year. We also really need members of the community to step up and join our committee to keep this tradition of almost 110 years going. We hope to see you there. Thank-you to those who attended our EGM on Wednesday night. I am pleased to announce that we were able to find individuals to fill the positions required to keep the Gala Day going! Newtongrange Childrens Gala Day is a tradition that has ran in our village for over 100 years. This tradition is now under threat and we are now having to call a Extraordinary General Meeting . The Gala committee is running extremely low on volunteers and office bearers to keep this tradition alive. We need the following positions filled so we can continue to operate: -Chairperson -Treasurer - Secretary We also require a few extra committee members to help us with planning and running one of Midlothian’s best Gala Days. All new office bearers and committee members will be supported by the remaining experienced committee members who will help you settle into your position. If you think you may be able to help us we would like to invite you to our EGM. Our Extraordinary General Meeting is open to all in the community. We will be holding our EGM in The Dean Taverns Function Suite on Wednesday 3rd of November at 7:30pm We look forward to seeing you. Kind Regards, Connor Wright Vice Chairperson Due to the Coronavirus outbreak the committee has taken the decision with the support of Midlothian Council to postpone the 2020 Gala Day till the 12th of September 2020.
The Committee will be following all Government guidelines and will make decisions in line with that advice. We will continue to update this page with the latest information. Stay Safe Guys! UPDATE: The committee has taken the decision in line with government advice to only have a small PRIVATE crowning ceremony for the children of the court. this will be filmed and posted up onto the gala day website, facebook and youtube pages at a later date. Newtongrange Children's Gala Day have presented Jacqueline with a gift for all her help and support throughout the years and wish her all the best for the future.
Newtongrange Children's Gala Day have been able to secure power to our static stage within Newtongrange Welfare Park. This stage is for the community to use and will mean that more family events can happen throughout the year. I am pleased to say Counsellor Catherine Johnstone gave monetary assistance to make this happen with the help of Wayne Clark from the Council . Newtongrange Children's Gala Day would like to thank Counsellor Catherine Johnstone and Wayne Clarke for their help and expertise. - Denise (Chairperson) Newtongrange Gala Day committee would like to thank Newtongrange & St Andrew's Primary Schools for allowing them to have an information table at parents night.
Newtongrange Gala Committee would like to thank road users for their patience whilst the flags were being put up this morning (4/6/16) and Midlothian Council for their assistance and expertise in putting up the flags . Through wind, rain, sleet, snow and sunshine, Newtongrange Children's Gala Day Committee, Newtongrange Scouts, members of the 2016 Gala court and several members of the community braved the elements to walk the streets of Newtongrange to raise money for the Gala Day. Each year we spend 3 evenings doing a door to door collection and thanks to the generous donations from the community we are able to continue putting on events throughout the year. |
