Sunday 7th June 2020 – Sunday Funday. –Fancy Dress/Pet Show and Kids 5 Aside tournament.
Monday 8th June 2020 – Silver Band Night – Adults Only. The Silver band will be held this Year in The Dean Tavern in Newtongrange. Tickets are Free. Food will be served on the night.
Tuesday 9th June – Kids Fun Disco & Magic show. this will be held in Newtongrange Masonic Hall. Primary 4-7 will be in the Large Hall for a Disco from 6.00pm to 8.00pm Primary 1-3 will be in the Small Hall for a Magic Show from 6.00pm to 7.00pm if accompanied by parents can join the disco 7:00pm – 8:00pm
£1 charge at the door.
Wednesday 10th June2020–Talent show – This will be held in The Dean Tavern. 7:00pm – 10:00pm £1 entry per person. .
Thursday 11th June 2020 – Treasure Hunt – The Treasure Hunt will be held at 7.30pm, weather permitting, in the Public Park.
The Adults Football Tournament will also be held tonight in the Public Park further details to follow.
Friday 12th June 2020 - Dress Rehearsal - in Newbattle High School. Members of the court should wear their full Gala attire. The Court members will be make their own way to Newbattle high school for 5:45. The rehearsal will start at 6:30. You can pick your child up at the end of the rehearsal or arrange for pick up at 7:30.
Saturday 13th June 2020 - Gala Day – Court members will be picked up again by car. Usually pick up starts around 10:30 but again, this may change and you will be notified in due course. The children will then be taken to the Church Hall where they will have a sandwich and a drink before leaving on a motorcade of the village as detailed in the Gala Program. The motorcade will then meet the rest of the Gala Parade at the Square Park and will leave there at 1pm and proceed to the Park as detailed, again, in the Program. Each family will have two spaces allocated to them for the reserved seating area by the stage in the park, you must report to a steward who will tick your name off the list and show you to your seats. This will also be the same in the event of inclement weather as space will be restricted – details in the Galaday Program.
After the crowning ceremony the Court members will be taken to the Church Hall and will be given their Gala bags. Parents/Carers will have to pick up their child from the Church Hall. This will be done as quickly as possible as the children are usually eager to get changed and back to the park to enjoy the rest of the Gala, but please make sure you tell the person in charge that you are taking your child as all children must be accounted for. If you envisage any problems getting to the Church Hall then please contact the committee, at rehearsals, at least one week before the Gala, so that other arrangements can be made.
The judging of the decorated gates will take place on Friday 12th June. Please have fun doing this and although there are only three small prizes awarded, all efforts are greatly admired and appreciated by the Committee and indeed the whole Village for their contribution to the fun of the Gala Day. The judging of the cars will take place before the cavalcade.
Sunday 14th June 2020 - Kirking Service - Court members will again wear their full Gala attire and should be brought to thechurch hall by 10.30am in time to prepare for the 11.00am service. If you will have problems with transport for your child please let the me know before the last rehearsal. Please give your child a Donation for the collection plate. All friends and family are welcome to this service, which begins at 11.00am. Weather permitting; there will be an opportunity to take a few photographs of your child outside the Church.
There will be no transport provided for Court members on the journey home from the church.
